Damage discovered at Palo nuclear plant

An equipment problem has been discovered at an eastern Iowa nuclear power plant. An inspection of the Duane Arnold Nuclear Energy Plant near Palo has found small cracks in a nozzle inside the reactor. Officials say there is no threat to workers or the public. The plant has been shut down for routine refueling since October 22nd and is slated to reopen this month after the cracks are repaired.
