Grinnell College students ask admnistration to divest some holdings

A group of Grinnell College students and faculty is calling on the college to divest its holdings in companies they say aren’t environmentally friendly. Bill Holland is a student spokesman for the “Free the Planet” group. Holland says they are targeting a group of companies that’re members of the Global Climate Coalition.Holland says three-thousand scientists support the idea of global warming, but members of the Global Climate Coalition try to refute the idea.Holland says 25 professors have joined the students in taking a stand on the issue.Holland says Grinnell College has a collection of mutual funds invested in the companies.
