Vilsack will pardon turkey

Iowa’s new Governor plans to continue a long-standing Thanksgiving Day tradition.Governor Terry Branstad did it. Now, Governor Tom Vilsack will, too. Each year, the Iowa Turkey Association presents a “live” Tom to the state’s Governor, presumably for use on the Thanksgiving dinner table. Branstad granted the birds he received a pardon, and Vilsack plans to send this year’s bird to Living History Farms in Urbandale for the remainder of its days. The pardoning ceremony is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Governor’s mansion.
