The Iowa Department of Human Services is trying to head off more Y-2-K fears, some 33 days before the arrival of the year two-thousand. D-H-S spokesman Scott Kiefer says some people, like Medicaid recipients, fear computer crashes will effect their coverage. Kiefer says there’s an easy solution, December cards until the January cards arrive, just in case. A recent Congressional Y-2-K readiness report found some federal Medicaid recipients should keep their government computers were NOT compliant with the year-end glitch, including those that manage the Food Stamp program.
