Young singers are being saught from every county in Iowa to take part in a special choir which will represent the state at a music festival in Des Moines next summer. Kevin Baker is helping organize the All Iowa Children’s Chorus and says children in 5th, 6th and 7th grades are being auditioned for the state choir which will rehearse and perform over the Memorial Day weekend. Baker, marketing manager for the Des Moines Children’s Choruses, says December is NOT too early to start looking for singers. The goal is to get at least one boy and girl from every county in Iowa. He says last year’s All Iowa Children’s Chorus had representatives from 83 counties, but he’d like to see all 99 represented this next year. Baker says kids can learn a lot from taking part in the vocal festival. For more information, Baker suggests students talk with their school’s music teacher or call the Choruses in Des Moines at (515) 262-8312 or send e-mail to: [email protected]
