Former Iowan held in Georgia may be out by Christmas

There’s still hope to get an Iowa man out of prison in the former Soviet republic of Georgia — and home in time for Christmas. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says a report earlier this week said an investigative report on Loren Wille was being delayed until January 21st.Grassley says the investigation could be wrapped up as soon as this week. He adds, a meeting is scheduled today between Wille, representatives of the U-S and Georgian governments and Catholic Relief Services. Grassley says Wille must be given due process.Wille is being held on what amounts to a manslaughter charge after being involved in an accident that killed Georgian woman five months ago. Wille was in Georgia working for C-R-S and is originally from the Cedar Rapids area & still has family there.
