The Iowa Department of Economic Development today approved tax incentives and job training funds for a Sioux City company that will electronically pastuerize meat. Spokesman Phil Thomas says the D-E-D board waived a rule requiring the Titan Company to invest over 10-million dollars and create 50 jobs to secure the incentives.The company will create 20 jobs and invest over seven-million dollars. Thomas says it’s not know yet how much the incentives for the company will cost. He says the board was impressed with the potential of the technology to make food safer.Thomas says there is the potential for much more growth in the company, though he says Titan isn’t guaranteed success.The company hopes to be in operation by next month.
