Pioneer Hi-Bred International of Johnston and its parent company, Dupont, are donating two-million dollars to a program to develop alternative uses for Iowa crops. The money goes into a fund used by the Iowa Agriculture Finance Corporation to provide capital to small and midsize food processing and biotechnology companies.Doyle Karr is a Pioneer spokesman. Karr says the company is interested in finding new ways to use the products it produces.Karr says there is a lot of potential for increasing the importance of Iowa’s crops.The Finance Corporation was created by the state legislature last year.
