Don’t rush around today buying more gifts than you need. That’s the advice of University of Northern Iowa psychology professor Radhi (rah-dee) Al-Mabuk (all-muh-book’). The professor says parents need to set a good financial example for their kids. Al-Mabuk says children who are shopping need to buy a gift with meaning, not necessarily one with a large price tag.Al-Mabuk (muh-book’) says parents shouldn’t give their kids the impression shopping is the focus of the season. Al-Mabuk is reminded of the old adage that the gifts you make are the gifts that mean the most.
