The leading G-O-P presidential candidate stopped in Des Moines today to receive the backing of two politicians who are well-known in Iowa. Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush received the endorsements of former foe Elizabeth Dole and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley today. During a rally at the Des Moines airport, Grassley said he supports Bush because “he never leads with his finger to the wind” — but leads by principle.Dole abandoned her own candidacy in November after raising just five-million dollars, but gaining success in Iowa by attracting women to politics.During an interview with Radio Iowa, Dole said the next President needs the kind of executive experience Bush has had.About two-hundred people gathered for the aiport rally, and Bush appealed to the crowd to turn out and vote in the caucuses which are just 20 days away.Bush visits Davenport and Cedar Rapids today, too.
