Microsoft is now being sued by a Cedar Rapids accounting firm. The James T. Brems firm has filed a class action lawsuit in Linn County District Court, alleging Iowans have been hurt by the computer software giant. Brems says after reading a federal judge’s decision against Microsoft, he decided to file the lawsuit charging Bill Gates’ company with violating Iowa laws against monopolies.Brems says Microsoft is charging “unlawfully inflated” prices for its Windows operating system — and he says Iowans should be compensated.Brems admits it’s a tough road ahead to pursue the lawsuit.Brems is seeking compensation for his firm — and five-thousand Iowans who have purchased Microsoft software. A Microsoft spokesman calls the lawsuit “unfortunate” — and notes it’s one of a bunch of similar lawsuits filed around the country.
