The two democrats seeking their party’s presidential nomination debated in Iowa Saturday. Vice President Al Gore fired the first salvo in his opening statement. Responding to a comment that he was in a Washington bunker, Gore says the administration in that bunker created 20-million new jobs, passed a tougher gun law and created the strongest economy in the history of the U-S.Former New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley didn’t respond to Gore’s challenge until his closing comments, asking family farmers if they’re better off than seven years ago.Governor Tom Vilsack is neutral in the race and won’t attend a democrat Caucus on January 24th. Bradley says he doesn’t have to win Iowa’s Caucuses, but just be competitive in order to continue his candidacy. The Iowa Poll shows George W. Bush leading the pack of Republicans, with his closest competitor Steve Forbes 27 points behind.
