An art exhibit that was one-hundred years in the making is now on display at the Des Moines Art Center. It’s called “M-C-M to Y-2-K — A Century of Art on Paper.” Amy Worthen is the curator of the collection which aims to cover every year in the 20th Century.Worthen says the exhibition of one-hundred works features something from each of the one-hundred years of the past century — and includes artists ranging from Pablo Picasso to Grant Wood.Worthen says a plethora of artistic styles are included — everything from cubism to surrealism to futurism and abstract art.A large-scale work will be unveiled Sunday at 3 p-m called “Faces of Iowa.” It’s a series of one-hundred photographs of Iowans, each of whom was born in a different year over the past century, starting in 1901 and ending with an infant born this month. They’re from each of Iowa’s 99 counties with the 100th being the new “millennium baby” born in Des Moines.
