Food safety concerns create jobs

All the concern about the safety of food is proving to be good news for agriculture students at Iowa State University. With growing worries about e-coli bacteria, chemicals and other things that can taint our food supply, there’s a constant need for proffessionals to deal with those concerns. Mike Gaul is the director of agriculture career services at I-S-U. He sees a lot of employment opportunities in the food field for I-S-U grads. Gaul says the food-related job openings are all across the country. He says the demand has led to a pretty good starting salary range for grads.Starting salaries range from 25 to 35-thousand dollars a year. In some cases Gaul says students are earning 40 to 45-thousand dollars in their first year. Gaul says it’s a good field to look into.A study by the U-S-D-A and Purdue University predicts the demand for these type of jobs will be strong for the next five years.
