Iowans who bought homes last year paid about nine percent more for them than in the year before, according to a report from the Iowa Association of Realtors. President Dave Berry says the median price for a house in Iowa rose to just under 95-thousand-700 dollars.Berry says the state’s most expensive homes during 1999 were in West Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Ames — where median prices were all in six figures. Des Moines was THE most expensive at 125-thousand-100 dollars. Berry says Iowa is right in line with the rest of the country’s prices.Berry says Florida and California traditionally have the most expensive homes in America.The lowest-priced homes listed on the association’s survey are in Blue Grass and Ottumwa — both list the median price at 50-thousand dollars.
