A “webcam” that shows live pictures of insects from Iowa State University’s entomology department is getting a lot of attention. The “Insect Zoo Cam” has been named one of the top 25 most interesting webcam sites by a company that provides access to such sites. John Vandyk is the program coordinator for the entomology department. He says they started the webcam as part of their entomology department webpage.He says the entomology department webpage drew a lot of attention even before they started the Insect Zoo Cam.Vandyk says the interest has picked up as the Zoo Cam’s gotten more publicity. He said he’s had to double the capacity their server to keep up with demand.Vandyk says they’re pleased that people are paying so much attention to the bugs.You can see the Insect Zoo Cam on the internet at: zoocam.ent.iastate.edu.
