State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the first month of the new year continues a trend of above-normal temperatures. Temperatures averaged four to four-and-a-half degrees above normal in January. Hillaker says there wasn’t a lot of extra snow in January, continuing what has also been a dry trend for the state.Hillaker says the weather in February may not be much of a change.Temperatures may be a little below normal, but he says it will probably average out as February temperatures are generally about four degrees warmer than January. Hillaker says the trend is against a snowy February. We’ve had six consecutive drier-than-normal months, so he isn’t betting February will change that pattern.
