It’s the word on the lips of many Iowans — “Brrrr” — and it’s also the name of a bicycle ride that’s drawing hundreds of two-wheeling enthusiasts to central Iowa today. “The BRR Ride” is the 24th annual Bike Ride to Rippey. John Doyle is director of the Perry Chamber of Commerce. He says the ride starts in Perry & goes 11 & a half miles to Rippey and back, usually drawing between two-and-three-thousand bike riders. Doyle says it helps to be a little crazy for riders to take part in the event.Registration begins this morning at 8. The ride starts at 10. For more information, call (515) 465-4601. Like letter carriers, Doyle says this ride will go on despite any type of rain, sleet or snow. The BRR Ride isn’t to be confused with another event being held today in eastern Iowa. The Brry-Scurry Run is a 5-K and 10-K run & walk through downtown Clinton along the Mississippi River.
