As part of Black History Month, the State Historical Society of Iowa is hosting a celebration in Des Moines today of African-American arts and culture. The event called “I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa” includes a variety of dance, music, art and food.Historical Society spokesman Roger Munns says there’s a wide array of entertainment and educational exhibits at the State Historical Building.Munns says this is the second annual celebration of the “I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa” event, because last year’s premiere was such a success.Admission is free to the event which runs today from 10 a-m until 6 p-m. There will also be free soul food samples from at least four Des Moines-area restaurants and catering services.
