Storms and other natural causes have taken their toll on many of Iowa’s trees in the last three years. A new state program called “A Million More by 2004,” is providing grants to communities to help replace lost trees. State Forester Mike Brandrup says maintaining trees is key for communities to continue to prosper.Brandrup says all communities can participate by filling out a grant application by March 15th.Brandrup says beautiful trees have a history in Iowa and we need to continue the history in the years to come.The Iowa Department of Natural Resource and The Iowa Nursery and Landscaping Association are co-sponsoring the program.
