It’s slow going for a bill to raise the speed limit. Next week, the House Transportation Committee plans to consider a bill which would raise the speed limit on Iowa’s Interstates to 70 miles per hour. While it appears there are enough votes to pass the bill in THAT committee, it would NOT get that kind of reception in the Senate according to Senate Republican Leader Stewart Iverson of Dows.Iverson says a majority of Senators believe Interstate accidents and fatalities would increase if the speed limit is raised.
