Procrastinators may be stuck with thorns if they wait until the drive home tonight to find a bouquet of Valentine’s Day flowers. Lori Polle of Plaza Florist in Des Moines got to work early this morning to start packaging roses for delivery. She says there may be a few buds for you last-minute shoppers late this afternoon, but it’ll be “slim pickings.” She says there are always lots of Valentine’s Day — or Valentine’s late-in-the-Day — procrastinators. For those who decide any flower named anything but a rose wouldn’t smell as sweet, you’ll have to pay sweetly for a dozen. She says twelve long-stemmed reds will cost $69.95, while supplies last.
