Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura’s slight of Iowa’s mental mettle has raiseda retort from the Iowa Senate. Yesterday, during an appearance before someRussian students, Ventura jokingly asked how many Iowa freshman does it taketo screw in a lightbulb. Ventura’s punchline: the course isn’t taughtuntil the sophomore year. Senator Bill Fink, a democrat from Carlisle, questions how Ventura, himself, would get the joke since Ventura nevermade it to his sophomore year in college.Fink says Iowans shouldn’t be insulted by Ventura. And Fink refuses to offer any Minnesota jokes in response.A spokesman for Iowa’s Governor has not responded to an interview request. Vilsack, by the way, made it through his sophomore year, as well as threeyears of law school.
