The Clarke County Development Corporation has announced plans for passing out some of the money generated from the new Lakeside Casino in Osceola. As the license holder for the casino, the Development Corporation is required by Iowa law to distribute a portion of Lakeside’s profits to religious, civic or charitable organizations. Development Corporation Executive Director Madeline Adams says they’ll do so by taking applications in July from the non-profit groups in Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold, Union and Wayne Counties. Those applications will be ranked on a point system to determine who gets the money. Adams says they’ll have an estimated 600-thousand dollars each year to give to worthy projects.Adams says there won’t be a minimum or maximum amount of funding the groups can request. Lakeside Casino opened in January.
