A new state scientific council is examining the number of medical errors which occur in Iowa hospitals. Dr. Stephen Gleason, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, says the study was started in December, and should be complete within a year.Gleason says the “Council of Scientific and Health Advisors” is a “brain trust” which can examine medical errors and other health issues.This past week, President Clinton initiated a national examination of medical errors, which Clinton said are may be caused by the complexity of the U-S health care system.
