A conference beginning this afternoon at Iowa State University aims to stir the bubbling pot of controversy surrounding G-M-O’s or genetically modified organisms. Organizers of the meeting say it’s designed to be a public forum where people can discuss their concerns and ideas about G-M-O-grown food.Forum organizer Charlotte Bronson is also an I-S-U professor of plant pathology. She says this forum, which begins at 1 p-m and continues tomorrow, will gather a wide array of participants, from teenagers to farmers to academic researchers.Professor Bronson says she’s unsure where the controversy over G-M-Os will end up.She says G-M-O’s do hold much promise for society but progress must be gradual and deliberate.
