Iowa Coach Steve Alford says his first year at the helm of the Hawkeye basketball program has been rough as he’s had to learn what a losing season’s all about — and he never got to revel in his old team’s success.Last season, Alford took Southwest Missouri all the way to the “Sweet Sixteen” in the N-C-double-A tourney.Alford says he would have liked to have had the time to savor his Southwest Missouri team’s success.Alford says this first year at Iowa has been tough, but he says the team has continued to work hard and has stayed together. Alford says his team must win the Big Ten Tournament to have a chance at postseason play.
