The leader of the Iowa National Guard says the state needs to deal with a shortage of recruits to avoid cuts in guard units. Brigadier General Ron Dardis says it’s the biggest challenge facing the Guard.He says two important reviews are coming up that could result in the shutting down of units that aren’t at full strength. Dardis says it’s important to retain all of Iowa’s units.Dardis says the Iowa Guard brings in eight-point-one million dollars in tax revenue to the state through its various programs.Dardis made his comments during a review of units in Sioux City.
