Thousands of eastern Iowans are turning out this weekend to support the family of a Clinton County teenager who’s been in a coma more than two months.17-year-old Amy Sater of Low Moor developed severe complications after what was supposed to be a routine appendix operation January 4th. The junior at Dewitt’s Central Community High School is in critical condition with a host of problems. To help the family pay medical bills, Ken Thompson of the Low Moor Lions Club organized Sunday’s benefit.Low Moor has a population of only two-hundred-80, but Thompson says more than two-thousand breakfast tickets have been sold, along with three-thousand raffle tickets for donated items ranging from a lawn mower to a handmade quilt. Plus, there’s a bake sale and silent auction. Thompson says he’s overwhelmed by the community support. The Sunday morning benefit will be held at the Low Moor Community Center.
