The Iowa State Cyclones will head north Thursday to play Central Connecticut State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will be the second of the day at the Metrodome. The Cyclones are the number two seed in the Midwest Region after winning the Big Twelve Tournament Sunday. Coach Larry Eustachy says they have to use the same mentality that brought them the regular season and conference tournament titles.Eustachy says his players probably believe they can make it all the way to the final four, but says they won’t talk about it publicly.Eustachy stayed in Kansas City last night after the Big Twelve Tournament to watch tape of Central Connecticut State. He says all the teams that play their way into the tournament have the qualities that make them hard to play.Eustachy says some of the credit for the Cyclones success has to go to his predecessor Tim Floyd. The Cyclones will enter Thursday’s game with a 29-4 record while Central Connecticut State is 25-5. Eustachy was given a new 10-year contract worth nine million dollars Monday as a reward for the team’s success. Eustachy says he wants to make Iowa State his final coaching stop and says while happy with the contract the credit goes to the players.
