Bill would keep Iowans in Powerball game

A bill which keeps Iowa a part of “Powerball” even if foreign countries participate in the lottery game has cleared another hurdle at the statehouse. The Senate has approved the bill, at Senator Mike Sexton’s urging.Sexton, who’s a republican from Rockwell City, says present state law forbids Iowa’s participation in the “Powerball” game if the game goes global.Sexton says Iowans would be disappointed if Puerto Rico, Australia or Canada became part of the game — and Iowa exited. Sexton says the bill’s future in the House, though, remains uncertain.”Powerball” is one of the world’s largest lottery games. Players pick five numbers and a “powerball” number on the game’s ticket — or a computer picks the numbers for them.
