The deadline day for Iowans to file their federal taxes is now just less than a month away. C-P-A offices across the Hawkeye State are being besieged with taxpayers, carrying shoeboxes loaded with forms and receipts. One accountant says it -is- still possible to get in before April 15th.Mike Helm practices in West Des Moines and is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. He’s seeing a big boost in the number of Iowans filing electronically. Many people still do the tax task themselves and don’t want to shell out more money to have a C-P-A do the chore for them. Helm says C-P-A’s can usually make up for their fee by saving clients money through deductions and other tax tips.Plus, he says C-P-A’s are available to their clients all year long for any financial questions they may have.
