The University of Northern Iowa baseball team plays its home opener Wednesday, when the Panthers take on Minnesota State at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo. Panther coach Rick Heller says after 17 straight road games, the team’s anxious to play at home.The Panthers are 9-8 on the season. They open up the Missouri Valley Conference home play on Friday wben they host Southwest Missouri State, a team known for its hitting.Heller says Southwest has only one dominant pitcher, so U-N-I can string together some wins if the Panthers pitch well.
