The 15th ranked Iowa softball is off a 4-0 start in the Big Ten after a weekend sweep of Wisconsin. Coach Gayle Blevins says her team came into the season feeling it had something to prove after seeing a string of five consecutive N-C-A-A appearances snapped last year.Blevins says their good start to the Big Ten season may be a result of a difficult non-conference schedule, including a March trip to California that saw the Hawks drop games to three of the top ten teams in the country.Blevins says the pitching duties have been split between senior Kelly Zeilstra and sophomore Kristi Hanks.Blevins says the biggest improvement has been in run production. She says they’ve been able to work their short and long games when they needed them to be more productive throughout the lineup.Iowa returns to action Wednesday with a doubleheader at Illinois State.
