Consumer advocate Ralph Nader says corporate interests are killing democracy — and family farming. Nader first gained national notice in the mid-60s for his crusade for car safety standards. Nader’s again running for President and he spoke yesterday in Des Moines. Nader says he wants to bring attention to the increasing concentration of power and wealth in too few hands. Nader says big business is on a collision course with democracy.Nader says American farmers should be allowed to grow hemp, which has been outlawed in the U-S because federal agents say it’s too much like marijuana. He says industrial hemp was used by Betsy Ross to make her first flag. Nader says hemp has 25,000 known uses and is grown in other countries.Nader, who is running under the Green party banner, says there’s no difference between the two major political parties. Both, in his opinion, are hostages to corporate interests.
