Iowa Senator Tom Harkin is pushing for a change in law to make it possible for Iowa meat plants to sell their wares to neighboring states.Under the proposal, plants in Iowa could ship meat across state lines if they meet federal inspection standards.Harkin, a democrat, says there are over 100 small plants in Iowa. He says there are many plants on the border that could benefit from selling their meat to other states.Harkin says the bill is making its way through a senate ag committee.
