Today is the traditional deadline date for filing your federal income taxes, but since it’s a weekend the Internal Revenue Service has pushed the deadline to midnight Monday. Spokesperson Donna Migazzi says it’ll be a working weekend in many I-R-S offices, as most are open today and some will be open tomorrow. She says help is also only a phone call away at 1-800-tax-1040 via phone or a few keystrokes at www.IRS.Gov.Migazzi cautions you to not make mistakes under the pressure to get your taxes completed. She says more mistakes are found on the forms that come in during the last week than those that get in early. If you can’t get your taxes done on time, you can file for an extension.Migazzi says several hundred thousand Iowans wait until the last minute to file their taxes.
