The State Transportation Commission approved grants today to help improve street access to several Iowa businesses. Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Vaughan says Fairfield landed a 132-thousand dollar grant.to help Harper Brushworks expand in the Fairfield Industrial Park and is contingent on the creation of 50 new jobs.A 435-thousand dollar grant is going to Adel for a new roadway that will provide paved access for expansions at United Brick and Tile and Iowa Spring Manufacturing. Iowa Spring is creating 25 new jobs and United Brick and Tile is creating 20 new jobs and keeping 100 jobs. Four other cities received grants to improve roadways to industrial parks which will open up more lots for new businesses. Ellsworth received nearly 71-thousand dollars, Le Mars 509-thousand dollars, Algona 221-thousand and Council Bluffs nearly 417-thousand dollars.
