Government officials from northern Iowa are gathering in Mason City today to talk about building a jail together. Joe Myhre is the Executive Director of the North Iowa Council of Governments.says Cerro Gordo County officials have already hire a consultant to study a jail shared by several counties, and they want to see if there is interest from other counties. He says they don’t know yet if other counties are interested.Myhre says they hope to educate the counties on the process for developing a jail and will have experts on hand to discuss what’s involved.Myhre says they could have as few as three counties involved, or as many as 10.
