It’s not a cheap vacation fling, but Iowans are being offered an unusual opportunity to fly to England at twice the speed of sound. A Sioux City travel agency is booking packages for a direct flight to London on the legendary supersonic jet known as the Concorde. Chris Camenzend (CAM’-un-zend) is owner of Premier Travel and Cruise. The flight is scheduled to depart Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on June 20th. The package includes five nights in London with several options and return passage on the luxury cruise ship Queen Elizabeth Two. Camenzend says the real allure of the 12-day trip is that speedy aircraft. Camenzend says flying at 13-hundred-50 miles an hour cuts the U-S-to-Europe flight by more than half. The Concorde seats one-hundred passengers. Now for the price, and remember, you were warned it’s not a low-cost venture. Prices range from about seven-thousand to nearly 18-thousand dollars, depending on the options chosen. This will be the first-ever flight of the Concorde to the western Iowa area, though Camenzend says the jet has made stops in years past in Omaha and Des Moines. Another Concorde trip is planned to fly out of the Quad Cities in September.
