Sunday services are cancelled in many Catholic churches in the Dubuque Archdiocese this week so parishioners can make a pilgrimage. A special mass is set for Sunday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls to celebrate Pentecost. It’s part of the Roman Catholic Church’s “holy-year” celebration. Sister Carol Hoverman of the Archdiocese office in Dubuque expects up to 20-thousand Catholics to gather for the Sunday service. The Dubuque Archdiocese covers 30 counties in northeast Iowa, serving about a quarter of a million Catholics.
