An unusually large wetland area in eastern Iowa will be dedicated tomorrow. The land in Clayton County just south of Postville is quite rare according to Tim Englehardt of the Clayton County Conservation Board. It’s a 30-acre tract, making it one of the largest wetland areas in the state. It’s also home to several rare plants, butterflies and insects. Twenty-eight acres were donated by the Gerald Kleve family. The remaining two acres were placed under the wetland reserve program and are owned by several members of the Schneider family of Postville. The area is “land-locked” and a special tour is arranged for tomorrow afternoon.
