As gasoline prices bound higher daily, Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell is asking Attorney General Janet Reno to launch an immediate investigation into the oil industry’s possible price gouging. Congressman Tom Latham says he’s heard no response from Reno yet as to whether she’ll address the issue.Latham, a republican from Alexander, says he’s talked personally with U-S Energy Secretary Bill Richardson about trying to bring gasoline prices down.Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a democrat, says he supports an immediate federal probe into possible price gouging by the oil companies. Gasoline prices went up a dime to a new high of a dollar-79 a gallon yesterday in Des Moines.
