Grundy County authorities are investigating a homicide in a rural area north of Marshalltown and a possible suspect is in custody. The murder of the woman and the wounding of another took place near the tiny town of Conrad. Troopers caught 33-year-old David Lenox on Interstate-35 after a 42-minute, high-speed chase. Sergeant Robert Hansen of the Iowa Highway Patrol says at about two o’clock, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy spotted Lenox.A 16-year-old girl reportedly being held hostage by Lenox was released at an intersection and she’s fine. After her release, Hanson says the high-speed chase was on. It continued over several roadways, sometimes in the wrong direction.Hanson says the chase ended in a wreck at the Kamrar exit.Lenox, who was driving a black Chevy Blazer, took the off-ramp, ran into a D-O-T vehicle as well as a patrol car — and was ejected from the Blazer. Lenox and a trooper were taken to a local hospital for their injuries from the wreck.
