As northeast Iowans brace for possible floodwaters, the Governor’s Drought Advisory Task Force met this morning. State emergency management administrator Ellen Gordon says some communities in southwest and south central Iowa are prepping for mandatory water restrictions July 1st. She says even in areas where there has been rain, it’s still going to take much more water to replenish subsoil moisture.Gordon says the Governor’s Drought Task Force will stress the severity of the drought in talks with U-S-D-A officials so certain disaster programs can be activated.There’s a flash flood watch for eight northeast Iowa counties.
