Polk County officials have tapped a Kansas City architectural firm to head up the design of a proposed downtown sports arena in Des Moines. H-O-K Sport will team with two local firms to design the Iowa Events Center.Polk County Board of Supervisors chair Angela Connolly says H-O-K is regarded as the world’s leading designer of sports facilities.Connolly says among H-O-K’s most recent projects are the United Center in Chicago and the Pepsi Center in Denver.Connolly says H-O-K is also familiar with the needs of Des Moines.as they designed the improvements of Sec Taylor Stadium and designed 801 Grand, the Principle building which is the tallest skyscraper between Chicago and Denver.
