There is a new top ranked team in class 4-A in the latest Radio Iowa/Baseball Coaches Association high school poll. West Des Moines Valley moves into the top spot in class 4-A this week after previously top ranked Iowa City High posted a 4-4 record last week. City High is second. Sioux City East, Cedar Rapids Washington and West Des Moines Dowling complete the top five. Oelwein remains top ranked in 3-A. Denison-Schleswig is up two spots to second. West Delaware is third, Mount Pleasant is fourth. Rock Valley debuts at number five and pitching is a major reason. Coach Greg Heemstra says the staff earned run average is under one. Despite suffering its first two losses last week, Cascade held on to the top spot in class 2-A. West Marshall is second. Carlisle, Center Point Urbana and Dyersville Beckman complete the top five. Lansing Kee remains top ranked in 1-A. Harmony is second followed by Mason City Newman, SCMT and Newell-Fonda.
