Iowa’s unemployment rate has dropped, again. The rate in June stood at two-point-two percent. A year ago, the state’s unemployment rate was about four-tenths of a percent higher. According to the Iowa Workforce Development agency, just over 34-thousand Iowans were unemployed in June — the second lowest jobless stat since the 1970s. Iowa Workforce Development analyst Sha Khan says the June number of unemployed Iowans was the second lowest in history, the lowest ever came in March of this year.Khan says the economy’s been on a roll, but it may not last, asmany economists believe the economy’s headed for a bumpy ride.Layoffs are looming, according to some economic predictors, but Khan says it’s not all downhill. He says businesses are having trouble finding employees.Khan says the June rate isn’t Iowa’s lowest ever. That occurred back in May, when the state’s unemployment rate stood at two-point-one percent.
