The State high school softball tournament opened Monday night in Fort Dodge. Sixteenth ranked Eldora-New Providence used a throwing error to score two runs in the fifth inning in a 3-1 victory over 18th ranked Interstate-35. Tiger coach Andi Royster says the players were nervous in the school’s first ever trip to the tournament.Tenth ranked Don Bosco scored two runs in the second and added six runs in the third in a 9-1 victory over Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto.Fifth ranked North Polk managed only one hit against Pleasantville eighth grader Brienna Jordan, but it was an RBI single from Kim Holmes in the ninth in a 1-0 Comet victory.Amy Rowe tossed the 32nd no-hitter in tournament history in the second ranked Pirates 1-0 win over Pocahontas. Rowe nearly had the eighth perfect game in tournament history but surrendered a walk with two outs in the seventh.In class 2-A, New Hampton ended the regular season just two games above 500 but is a victory away from a trip to the title game after a 2-1 win over Dallas Center-Grimes.Tenth ranked Independence scored three runs in the fifth to take the lead for good in a 4-2 victory over
