Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz talked with the media today as his team prepares for an earlier than normal start to the season. The Hawkeyes open the season against Kansas State on August 26th in the “Eddie Robinson Classic” in Kansas City. Preseason prognosticators aren’t expecting much of Iowa, and Ferentz hopes they’re as accurate as the forecasters who predicted a terrible drought for the state this year.Iowa won only one game last year, but Ferentz is optimistic the team will chalk up more wins this season. He says the 1999 season is done and behind them. He says a lack of experience is one the things they’ll have to overcome. Ferentz is entering his second season as the Hawkeye head coach.
